Documents

The files that go with a part: data sheets, manuals, safety data sheets, drawings, certificates, assembly instructions, 3D models and the G-code that prints or machines the part. Open it from Documents on the part's page; the count beside it says how many there are.

Format Up to Opens
PDF 20 MB In the browser, in a new tab
Word (.docx) 20 MB Downloads
Markdown (.md) 256 KB As a page in Foudra, ready to read or print
3D model (.stl, .3mf) 50 MB Downloads, for your slicer or CAD
G-code (.gcode, .bgcode, .nc) 50 MB Downloads, for the printer or machine

Foudra checks what a file really is, not just its name. A 3D model or G-code file must also have its usual extension, and a sliced 3MF (.gcode.3mf) is welcome as a 3MF. Old Word files (.doc) aren't accepted: save them as .docx or PDF first.

Uploading

Planners and above upload. Choose the file and what kind of document it is; the title is the file's name unless you give one, and the revision ("Rev C", "2024-03") is optional. A part can have up to 20 documents.

Change a document's type, title or revision with Edit under its title; to replace the file itself, upload the new one and delete the old. Uploads and deletions are recorded in the audit log.

Storage

Images and documents share the company's storage: 1 GB and 5,000 files once you've subscribed, 100 MB and 500 files during the free trial. The bottom of this page shows how much is used. When it's full, delete what you no longer need, or ask for more from Company settings: there's no charge.

Duplicating a part gives the copy the same documents without using more space. Merging parts moves the documents to the part that's kept.

From an integration

GET /api/parts/{id}/documents lists them, POST uploads one (multipart: file, type, and optionally title and revision), GET /api/documents/{id} fetches the file and DELETE removes it. See the API.
