Import parts
Loads parts from a CSV or NDJSON file. Create-only: an existing part number is reported as an error, not updated.
Columns
The header row names the columns, in any order; unknown columns are ignored, and capitalisation and spaces in headers are forgiven. Export the parts list first for a file with the right headers.
| Column | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| category_code | yes | Must exist |
| stock_number | no | Blank allocates the next free number in the category |
| version | no | Defaults to 00 |
| name | yes | |
| description | no | Markdown; in CSV, quote fields containing newlines |
| part_type | yes | raw_material, purchased, sub_assembly, finished_good |
| unit_of_measure | no | Defaults to each |
| is_stocked | no | true/false, default true |
| minimum_stock, maximum_stock, lead_time_days, standard_cost, notes | no |
The whole file is one transaction: a bad row rejects the lot with the row number named, and nothing is half-loaded.
