Record a stock movement
Every change to a quantity is a movement in the ledger. Pick the type, the part, the location and a positive quantity; the sign is implied by the type.
| Type | Effect | Use for |
|---|---|---|
| Receive | + at the location | Goods arriving outside a purchase order (a purchase order's own Receive goods is the normal path) |
| Issue | − at the location | Taking stock out for use, sale or sample |
| Transfer | − from one location, + at another, as two linked rows | Moving stock; both legs share a group id so they can only exist as a pair |
| Adjustment | ± | Correcting a known error; give a reason in the notes |
| Stocktake | Sets the count | You counted N; the movement is whatever delta gets from the book figure to N |
| Scrap | − at the location | Written off. Goes to the ledger, not to a scrap location — transfer to one first if you want the physical item tracked while it waits |
A movement that would take a location below zero is refused. Notes are free text; unit cost is optional and in company currency.
Movements are never edited or deleted. A wrong movement is corrected by an opposite one.
